"If we ever begin to doubt God's love for us, we need look no further than the child of Bethlehem.  That's no mere infant lying there in the feeding trough -- he's Deity in diapers.  The universe watched with wonder as heaven's (and earth's) King learned to walk.  Jesus would grow up in a Jewish home.  For thirty-three years he would feel everything you or I have ever felt.  Weakness. Weariness.  Fear of failure.  Temptation.  Fully human, we can safely assume Christ got colds and that he stumped his toes.  His feelings got hurt.  His feet got tired.  And his head ached.

"To think of Jesus in such a light is -- well, it almost seems irreverent, doesn't it?  It's not something we like to do; it's uncomfortable.  It is much easier to keep the humanity out of the incarnation.  But it's also unbiblical.  Christ was God -- with skin on."

-- Excerpt from Life Lessons: The Gospel of Matthew by Max Lucado (Thomas Nelson, 2007)

Book of Matthew

Book of Matthew / 5.0

The French scholar Ernst Renan said Matthew was "the most important book ever written." Matthew was indeed the favorite book of the early church. It bridges the gap between the two testaments as it gives the story of the life and ministry of Jesus from the perspective of one of Jesus' disciples. In this course we will look carefully at Matthew's account of Christ's life, gaining understanding of why Jesus came the first time and why He must come again.

Unlike other courses, there are no video/audio lessons to compliment this study.  Students simply read the downloadable book and take a Final Exam in order to qualify for transcript credit.
