Frequently Asked Questions

What about . . .

ACCREDITATION?  While SOM is not a regionally-accredited school, we have been privileged to work with several accredited colleges and universities that do accept SOM course transfer credits into their programs. This offers our students the option of benefiting from their SOM studies/training when pursuing a formal degree at various academic institutions.  Students seeking to attend other various institutions should check with that school as to the transferability of SOM credits.

GRADUATION?  When a student is approaching completion of either the Associates Diploma of Biblical Studies or the Bachelors Diploma of Ministerial Studies, they will be afforded the opportunity to participate in SOM's yearly commencement in June.  Alternatively, students may request that their diplomas simply be mailed to them.

ORDINATION?  Students who have graduated with a Bachelors in Ministry are eligible to apply for  licensure for a period of two years.  There is a licensing fee attached to that  application and must be  submitted with the form before being processed.  Upon an application being approved, a temporary two-year ministerial license will be issued.  It is the responsibility of the student to verify that  license through their individual state and local governments.

At the completion of the two-year licensure, students may apply for ordination through Church Four Eighteen, the sponsoring church of School of Ministry.  Church Four Eighteen is a member of the Full Gospel Fellowship of Churches and Ministers International which recognizes that ordination.

TIME LIMITS?  For the online student, there are no deadlines to complete a course or a tract of study.  You may go as quickly or as slowly as your time schedule demands.

For the traditional student attending courses at any of our satellite campuses, students must submit all lessons/tests/documentation to the instructor according to the traditional semester term limits of 13 weeks.

TRANSCRIPTS:  Students may request a copy of their official transcript by completing a REQUEST FOR TRANSCRIPT.  We will also gladly mail a copy of your transcript to any educational facility you would like.  Requests must be forwarded to the Registrar's Office as set forth in the form.  Transcripts are not considered official unless signed and sealed by the Registrar.

TRANSFER OF CREDITS:  CSOM accepts and grants credit for (1) the completion of "Perspectives" offered through the US Center for World Missions; (2) the completion of courses through International School of Ministry; and (3) the completion of Financial Peace University.  Simply contact us and make arrangements to send your transcript/certificates to us.   The maximum credit hours which may be transferred is 15.0.

IS THERE SOMEONE I CAN SPEAK TO WITH QUESTIONS?  There sure is.  Simply go to the CONTACT US page and send us your comments and a means by which to contact you (email, phone number, etc.).   One of our staff members will be happy to assist you as soon as possible.
